Yoroshiku

やっと仕事が決まった！今週の月曜日にソフトを作る会社に勤め始めた。同僚はみんな優しいし意外に仕事をするのはそんなに悪くない。しばらく仕事というより実習をする。習うものが沢山あって毎日頭が痛いな。

今日面白いことがあった。それは同僚が自己紹介してくれたときに俺はどうしても日本語で「よろしくお願いします」と言いたかった。もしかしたら日本人になったかもしれないと思った (・・)/

Vague

To me, あいまいな sounds almost English, like a musical key or something.

A useful word, though.

Review 2 Kyu

Lately, whenever I find time to study a little Japanese, I've been using my 完全マスター漢字2級 book, as I've found there are loads of great words in it that I don't know or have forgotten (a little disheartening, but you've got to look at it positively).

My aim is to review all 56 exercises fairly swiftly, but if I go through the extensive kanji list from beginning to end it might end up taking too long.

Twin Kanji

Don't you think the following words, which use「々」to represent duplicate kanji, are interesting?

少々（しょうしょう）
着々（ちゃくちゃく）
別々（べつべつ）
順々（じゅんじゅん）
次々（つぎつぎ）
広々（ひろびろ）
若々しい（わかわかしい）

What is the name for 「々」, anyway?

In one of last year's posts, 十分・充分, "showta24" posted a kind comment. I had forgotten the following, so thought it was worth reposting:

十二分　　more than enough

Maple Hands

Until recently I only knew the word 紅葉 in terms of the colour that leaves turn in autumn.

紅葉（こうよう）　Autumnal colours

There are some other meanings:

紅葉（もみじ）　a (Japanese) maple; red

Note that もみじのような手 means delicate little hands. Why is that?

Words All Gone

In the blink of an eye approximately 400+ nouns, 200-300 verbs and 100+ adjectives dissappear from memory - the memory of my Canon Wordtank G50, that is.

For lack of spares, I had been ignoring the 'change batteries!' message which had been appearing when switching on my G50. This has happened before but there is usually some amount of battery power left before you absolutely need to change the batteries.

I pressed a button and a clear memory option screen appeared for no reason. After selecting the 'do not wipe' memory option a system error message appeared for the first time ever. All my Wordmemos were wiped!!

Some of the words I had saved were from study probably as far back as JLPT 2級 but I had been adding more and more words in recent months. On the bright side, I often save words and never get around to looking at them again. Also, I can start afresh with all the words I don't know leading up to this year's exam. But still...

この間日本人の友達とテニスをしていた。二人の知らない人も来たが、皆は自己紹介せずにテニスを始めた。10分後みんなが集まった時に…

田中さん：はじめまして、田中です。
小川さん：…小川です。
ダレン：はじめまして、ダレンです。
田中さん：えっ？…
小川さん：外人？
ダレン：いいえ、外人じゃないです。
田中さん、小川さん：えっ…？
ダレン：こちら（イギリス）にいる日本人は外人じゃないですか？
田中さん：あっ、そういうことですね。

僕は厳しかったかな？日本人はどこの国にいても日本人ではない人を「外人」と言います。まず「外人」ではなく「外国人」と言ってください。それに日本じゃない国に住んでる日本人は誰が外国人だと思いますか？文句を言っちゃってごめんなさい。

Vocab Shock

久しぶりに日本語能力試験問題の本を見たら語彙をほとんど知らなくてショックだった。全然上達してない！そんなに勉強してないけどかなりでショックを受けた。一級の難しさを忘れてたかな。実は今2級の漢字を復習してるところだ。
