THe other day I wanted to say something like ‘on the whole’, ‘in general’, etc, to describe a situation in Japanese. This led me to:

全体  = whole, entirety
全体的 = generally, on the whole

Or we can use words like だいたい (大体) which Japanese people used with great regularity.
