By coincidence I saw a kanji that I recognised from an e-mail in my kanji book:

傷 (きず) – wound. Here are some compounds that were listed for this kanji:

傷つく – to be hurt
傷心 – to be heart broken
感傷的な – sentimental

I wonder if I should’ve known this for the JLPT. Anyway, it’s this week’s kanji.

  1. If you listen to / translate a lot of J-pop, you’ll get used to kizu and kizutsukeru and all that. Utada Hikaru in particular seems to use it a lot.

  2. Thanks Joe, yeah, you’re right, that is a great way to improve your Japanese. I have a couple of Utada Hikaru CDs that I should listen to more carefully.
